Why do some hair gels leave "white flakes" on your hair ?

I am looking for a men's hair gel that wont leave

"white flakes" on my hair . You can also suggest any "styling stuff" that does not leave "white flakes" . Thanks for taking the time to answer.

They only leave white flakes if you touch your hair once the gel is set. I don't think there are any that don't. Even hair-spray goes that.

Or maybe you have dandruff.

technically, not all gels leave white flakes! If you leave the gel in your hair for a long period of time, then the gel hardens and breaks off and looks like hair lice. If you wear gel every day, than you need to find a really nice shampoo that will get all of the gel out of your hair so that it doesn't leave white flakes. Maybe, you also need to find a better gel as well! I dances ballet and I had to wear gel in my hair every lesson and I had white flakes until I got a nicer shampoo and gel. Also, comb through your hair after you gel to prevent it from sticking together.

If it's leaving little crusties behind it contains some inexpensive polymers, plus you are probably using too much. Try a name brand, from your hairdresser or barber shop.
