Um...did you have an affair or something? Because I can understand hair color if someone in your family has red hair, even a great relative that you may not know. Also, her hair could get darker with time...and does your partner or a past relative have blue eyes? Because they could have inherited that recessive gene from them. But the baby's skin should probably be at least somewhat tan if your partner has dark skin. Her skin may change a bit in the first week or so, but I doubt the skin tone of a baby that is months old will change.

1) Scientists have finally admitted that the nice simple little mendelian genetics square doesn't really work. There is more than one gene that determines eye color so two people with brown eyes can produce a blue eyed baby. (not theoretically possible in Mendellian genetics)

2) eye colors and even hair colors do change over time. I think a baby's eyes can go from blue to some other color pretty suddenly before they get too old, like within a year of birth IIRC. And I was born with black hair, most of my pics until about 7 or so have me blond, but I am now brown headed and waiting to turn grey some day. Maybe when you're baby's permanent hair starts coming in, it will be another color.

GENETICS. If you're white, and your husband is 'mixed race' the chances are that you've got a blue-eyed red-head in at least one and possibly BOTH families ... BLUE eyes are DOMINANT (and in fact everyone is born with blue eyes, even black babies), and red hair can 'skip' several generations. Don't worry about it, and love your daughter ... she may 'change' a bit, but also may not ... she's yours and your husband's. i often hear about the white recessive genes, but the fact is that if blacks inbreed with whites, it doesn't take long before you can't really tell if they're black or white- 2 generations usually makes it difficult to distinguish. it is much harder to breed the white gene features out than viceversa

Red hair and blue eyes are not dominant traits, so do not call the dad black. He has to have over 75 percent Caucasian genes to be able to produce this baby with you, if you are contributing 50% of the genetics.
