Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

This is just a ridiculous assumption. No matter how straight my hair may be, I will always look Afro-American. I relax my hair because relaxed hair is easier to manage. I would never try to look white.

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

It may just because they don't understand and instead of asking they assume...?

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

do they?

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

Who thinks that?

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

I have no clue why they would think that. You do not say that if a white woman changes her hair style she is trying to be black.

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

I don't think that, and I dont know anyone who does. I personally like it when women do that, it's very attractive!

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

Good question since no one thinks a white girl who curls her hair is trying to be black.

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

It's because they don't know any better.

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

THATS SILLY. STRAIGHTENING YOUR HAIR DOESNT MAKE YOU WHITE!

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

There's an entire industry of personal care products whose goal is to make you (and every other woman) feel bad about her appearance and then spend as much of her money as she can manage on their products.

One of the ways they do that is to encourage black women to envy straight hair. It's not about looking white, it's about not liking yourself and your appearance.

They do it to white women too. That's why we have pages of curling irons next to pages of hair straighteners, aisles of hair dyes and other products that are known to contribute to cancer, asthma and other health problems currently on the rise.

I don't think that you're trying to look white. We have more important things to worry about on this issue.

Why do people think that black women who relax or straighten their hair, is trying to look/be white?

I don't think that. i think its just easier for a black woman to manage thier hair. my best friend is black and dam.n...i hated doing stuff with her hair before she'd relax it. it's just harder to deal with if it's not relaxed.
