I know the bleaching process can get to a very light blonde stage but do you need a whitening product to get it too white blonde? e.g. like the girls hair from harry potter

After applying bleach, wrap your hair in glad wrap, (sticky wrap) and heat it up with a couple of bursts from your hair drier. The heat will make it go white (you may need to do this twice if you have dark hair but be careful not to over bleach causing excessive dryness and try not to let it get to hot otherwise you may get chemical burns) and the glad wrap will keep it hot. Bleach and heat work really well together:)

Always apply magic silver white after bleaching to tone down brassiness:)

After doing this make sure you apply a deep conditioner, hair treatment or mask to give your hair back some moisture:)

Try using (if your in Australia, i'm not sure if they have it overseas) clairol born blonde no: 3 ultimate lightning, this WILL work:)

I reccomend getting a hairdresser to do it, What they do is bleach it with an ash blonde colour but then they use a toner, which will fade the honey and golden tones out.

Most store bought bleaches will go more yellow and are very hard to fix when they mess up even for a hairdresser.

Its also depends on your hair colour too. but a hairdresser will be able to tell you what it will turn out like.

Please go to a professional or well supervised school, going platinum without a 'chemical haircut' being procured along the way is not easy, especially if your hair is darker. Book a consultation with a colourist and go from there.

I once did this and it worked really well when I had much longer hair.

First you need a powerful bleach, like manic panic, or jerome russell or stragazer. The thing that makes them very effective is that they contain high volumes of bleach. To get a near white color you should use 30-40% peroxide dye. It will say on the packet how high the content it. Remember to wear the cap provided as moisture is needed to keep the lightening porcess working, as without as cap it can dry out and stop lightening. This will remove most if not all the color in your hair, but may leave some yellow tones.

If you find the color is not vibrant enough, use a toner. It may sound strange but to get the white color, you need to use purple tones to neutralize the yellow tones. I though it wouldn't work but it really does, and it got a very white color. The toning wont damage your hair at all, it will condition it if anything, if you were worried about dying it twice.

Alternatively if you don't want to use a toner, perhaps use something like stargazers white hair dye, which is like a toner, as it covers up the yellowy tones, but still requires the lightening bleach first, but the purple gave me a far more vibrant white.
