Why when we grow old our hair turn white?

The melanocytes that produce the pigment located at the base of every hair follicle start to shut down in old age (as do a lot of things) and as older dark hairs fall out, they are replaced by white hairs.

Why when we grow old our hair turn white?

it just runs out of ink (melanin)

Why when we grow old our hair turn white?

losing its pigments

Why when we grow old our hair turn white?

Our body slows down the production of melanin.

Why when we grow old our hair turn white?

because it would look too weird if it turned orange

Why when we grow old our hair turn white?

Because the blood doesn't carry the coloring agents after a while. Hair can also trun gray as a result of sudden stressfull events or news.

Why when we grow old our hair turn white?

Melanin., which colours our skin and hair stops production with age in the hair follicles and this makes our hair white. Not the skin.

I think it's a shampoo or toothpaste commercial. I think she's in snow wearing an all white suit and maybe a white fur hat.

What is the television commercial with the woman with long black hair in a white winter suit %26amp; who is model?

I'm not sure if this is what you're thinking of, but Pantene Pro-V Winter Rescue products has a model with long black hair and a white coat.

What is the television commercial with the woman with long black hair in a white winter suit %26amp; who is model?

Hey Austin, I've seen her on the Pantene website, but I still don't know the full name of the 'winter rescue' woman.. But don't give up searching, someone must know who this stunning beauty is..

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

Different hair types evolved basically to protect the brain in different climate extremes.

White people evolved in cool climates, and so...for the most part...have limp hair that lays down on the head. (i.e.: providing warmth, like a blanket)

Black people evolved in tropical climates, and their tight, curly hair both provides shade (keeping direct sunlight from beating down on the top of the head) but at the same time allowing wind to blow through, which provides a cooling effect.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

Wow! Why is everybody so mad at this question? Where did you see racism in it? Are you a bunch of crazies or what? Report It

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

You are kidding right? Why is pubic hair different then the hair on your head?

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

same reason they have different skin than white people.

moron.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

Uh oh, you done went and pissed the whole world off buddy.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

Dont really know why but just glad I am who I am. My roommate is AA and her hair is messy and everywhere.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

In Africa, the sun is so hot %26amp; direct, that our more coarse texture of hair helps to protect our scalp from the suns damage. White people are indigenous to places that dont have as much sun exposure, so they have a more fine texture of hair.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

I am bald, and I would take any kind of hair I could get.You better stop worrying about so little or you will be bald to.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

genetically some races have more co louring pigment in their skin and hair .That reflects even in their hair and nails also.

thin skin is always lighter in colour and so the hair

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

what kind of F-ing question is that. the world is way to complex and catastrophic to worry about dumb Sh*t like that. hair is freakin hair, just know dat nobody gives a sh*t about a black persons hair but, they do care about ignorant a**holes like yo askin semi racist questions. go back to the lynching south with that a**hole. y dont you report my abusive a** to yahoo security, dumba**.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

Well I know that our hair color is different because we have more pigment in our skin, and somehow we have more sebacious glands which makes our hair more oily. Hmm still thinking on that one.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

this question is not racist!!! black people REALLY DO have different hair than white people. he's just asking WHY. no where did he say that one is better than the other, hes simply recognizing a fact and asking why. a question such as "why are balck people's skin darker than whites?" isn't racist, so why should this question be.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

why are ppl getting so mad over this question? it's a good question. Don't know the answer but I'd like to.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

First of all I don't see this as a racist question, I would suppose its because of the climate conditions where black people have lived at first, it is a very interesting question.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

i dont know but may be becoz of the melanin production.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

This is NOT a racist question! all this people who said it was, go to the dictionary and look up what racism is. This is just a question that one might ponder on. jeez man....

Anyway, I think it has to do with the pigmentation in their skin and a slight part on the climate they are brought up in. Ofcourse the hereditary genes will encounter as well.

Why do black people have different hair than white people?

Can a white person use black hair products??

ok well my sister says i have very nappy hair like a a black girl [not tryin to be racist at all] so we found this pantene relaxed and natural hair conditioner. it is for colored women because they usually have nappy hair. so my sister says i should try it to make my hair look less nappy. i want to try it but my question is since it is for colored women, if i use it will it damage my hair?

Can a white person use black hair products??

Man! I am sorry that you are taking such a beating over a legitamet question. Normall hair product are hair products and they can be used by anyone no matter who they are marketed toward. But when it comes to black peoples and white peoples hair there are some fundamental differences that should be taken into account. The most important one is that black people tend to need hair and scalp products that provide a lot of mouisture which often means the products tend to be oily. White people do not typically need additional mouisture but use products that remove some of the oil.

Since you are only using the conditioner, it should not be a problem for you because it should help to soften the hair but i would also recommend the Paul Mitchell anti-frizz products or the Tigi Bedhead Control Freak anti-frizz stuff. I'm black and I love them both. I hope this helps. 閳?br>Can a white person use black hair products??

Yup, it will not damage your hair but it will make it a bit more oily.

Can a white person use black hair products??

well if your hair is the exact same texture as an african american woman,

than it doesnt matter what color your skin is

you could probably still use it

Can a white person use black hair products??

no... regular people can use those products too.

Can a white person use black hair products??

uh, usually have nappy hair

the last time i checked i could run a comb through my hair without it getting stuck or breaking in half

i think it will be safe enough for your "nappy" hair

but i'm sure there are products for your problem that are ment for your hair type.

Can a white person use black hair products??

I don't think that it would damage your hair but you should ask the people selling it just in case. I hope this helps.

Can a white person use black hair products??

I tried that exact shampoo because my hair was really dry. It made my hair so greasy it looked like I did not take a shower for weeks. I had to wash my hair like 3 or 4 times to get all the extra oil out. I say proceed with caution!

Can a white person use black hair products??

oh yes, because black womens hair is made out of superhuman particles that can withstand tortuous treatments. you may not be a racist, but you sure are an idiot.

its for hair. ALL HAIR if your hair is kinky or hard to manage, you would be better off using something that is for hard to manage hair.

Can a white person use black hair products??

I am pretty sure that saying "colored" is no longer a politically correct way to refer to African-Americans. Of course not all people who we think are African-Americans are of African descent either, so I don't know anymore... Maybe you should go to a hair dresser instead of trying to fix it yourself. My wife has this one friend who keeps dying her hair, and now it is all burnt up and nasty looking. She needs to cut it off and let it grow back normal. It is all fried, and looks horrible.

Can a white person use black hair products??

Colored??? Colored??? You're calling black women, colored yet you're not trying to be racist? Please.

Can a white person use black hair products??

No, hair is hair. If your hair is the same texture as black people's it should work for you. Some people consider the term "nappy" offensive. You could call it something else, like tightly curled.

Can a white person use black hair products??

It all depends because our hair is more resistant to relaxers. So thats why our hair has the strengh for those. But if your hair is truly coarse like ours then you may be able to use it . If not you may risk losing your hair. Be careful

Can a white person use black hair products??

Yes a "white person" can use products produced for women of color. African American products usually work your hair to make if soft and hold more moisture so why not? And if your hair is nappy as you , the colored hair products would be ideal for your hair. They would provide moisture, softness and make your hair very manageable. Plus most of them do not carry alcohol(alcohol drys out your hair), therefore that's an added bonus. When you go to the colored hair store ask the sales person for a specific product for your hair.good luck.

p.s. not all black people have nappy hair. I'm fully black and my hair is soft and curly.=)

Can a white person use black hair products??

if u have nappy dry hair then it might work for u. I've tried using it and it left my hair looking dirty because of all the grease, moisturizers and oils it contains.

Can a white person use black hair products??

No it will not damage your hair. My hair is very curly. couse and frizzy and I use ethnic products. I may recommend not using Pantene though. That stuff makes my hair frizzier than ever!! I would recommend going to Sally Beauty Supply or a beauty store and checking out their products there. Chances are you will have better luck will those. Well, good luck!!!!!

Can a white person use black hair products??

No it won't hurt your hair, it does contain more oil that you are probably used to having. But it won't hurt to try. Many people have kinky hair, it isn't only Black people. If you have Hispanic, ancestors, or even Irish ( Fuzzy red hair) it could come that background. Maybe you just need to have your hair relaxed. I have a friend (white) who has it done all the time.

Can a white person use black hair products??

its ok for you to use them. Before they came out with relaxed and natural. . .I used to use the regular pantene

also, if you are concerned about the way your hair is. Why dont you go to a hair dresser that is experienced with all types of hair or textured hair or black hair?

Can a white person use black hair products??

yes youcan you use it...your skin color has nothing to do with the way your hair is.

yourr welcommeess:]]

much lovess;;

Lauren%26amp;hearts%26amp;smiley for ya.

Can a white person use black hair products??

Honey hair is hair ! You go by texture not the race of the hair. Besides we are all one race, "The human race"!

Can a white person use black hair products??

it wont damage your hair. my sisters white and she has tight curls, and nappy/frizzy hair. she uses another conditioner that helps out her hair, and its nappy hair. it doesn't matter by the skin. its yur hair a white girl%26amp;black girl can have the same hair!

Can a white person use black hair products??

Yeah, the chemicals in that specific shampoo are not the things they use in relaxers or perms for coarser hair. The stuff in shampoos and conditioners in drug stores are almost the same across the board.

Black/African American people and others of any race with coarse hair sometimes use perms and relaxers to straighten their hair, this is a chemical process that straightens the hair shaft and has to be done periodically.

Just because something in a store is marketed for Blacks, Asians or Hispanics, doesn't mean it will "hurt" you. People do have differnent types of hair and skin, but lotion is lotion, sunscreen is sunscreen, soap is soap.

As an example, look at the hair dye section - Loreal has a line called Fieria with multicultural models on the boxes, and there's a line of haircolor geared towards black women by another company with black models of various complexions, then there's a company marketing colors for Latinas with names like Mexico Flame, Crema de la Corazon, etc.- it's the SAME chemicals inside the box! A white or any woman could get any of these hair dyes in light brown and it still comes out as light brown no matter what the brand.

Multi-cultural marketing pisses me off it it makes people think "It's just for them". The ingredients on the panel are the same, maybe in different formulas, but it's all the same in the end.

I'm black and pilipino, there's no shampoo for me :) I use Garnier.

Your question was very honest and I hope you keep learning about other multicultural stuff in the future and keep your mind open. You never know, someone may tell their kid, "You have nappy hair like that white girl over there" and point at you :) We're all connected despite the marketing.

Can a white person use black hair products??

Products catered toward colored women probably won't damage your hair. The most harm they will do is probably weigh your hair down. However- I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve with your hair. Most African American women have kinky and dry hair. The products we use, usually put moisture into out hair. African American women also have no need to wash our hair as often because our scalps don't produce as much oil. If you wash your hair everyday or even as much as once every three days- you probably don't need to use products catered toward African- American women. If you do wash your hair everyday and you notice that it get's dry and frizzy- stop washing it so often.

To make your hair less "nappy" I would recommend using aveda products, john frieda, or Frutis products. What you probably need is

1. A good flat iron

2. Some frizz ease

3. A leave in conditioner

Go into an Aveda store or Aveda online and they have this product that comes in a blue and white jar called anti humectant (or something like that) - that works really well when you are blow drying and flat ironing your hair.

If you are not wearing your hair down- get you some alcohol free styling gel make your hair a little more slick and less frizzy.

(also, even though I not offended by your use of the word nappy, you may want to be careful with how you use the word. Some women would take offense becasue it does have a deragotory connotation. I would suggest kinky instead)

:)

Can a white person use black hair products??

speaking as a licensed cosmetology instructor, platform artist, and director of education for a hair company, i want to go on record by saying:

"hair has no color" products are to be used according to the texture, elasticity, porosity, strength, and needs of the hair and individual.

now, granted, there are certain cultures that may use certain products more than other cultures. however, we can only attain the words "only" "ever" can't be used in this context. i assure you, i have had the good fortune, and opportunity to work on many, many "hair textures" and with clients from all over the world. i must say, i thank God that i had the selection, and education, knowledge, to be able to make the good choices (from the good information acquired from the continuing education classes i have attended all these years) i also worked with great designers who taught me a lot about different "hair-textures"and to use all of the different products,to obtain certain looks. think, women of color, native American women, Chinese, japanese, portuguese, Hispanic, Asian, pakistani, new Zealand, Greek women... my point about this endless blather, before attempting a chemical process: please go to a licensed professional. second: hair has no color thanks for reading this

Can a white person use black hair products??

I have some background in this area since I am white but by g/f is black, and she is supersmart about using hair products. She helps my own 'nappy' hair with can get that 'brillo soap pad look' with some of her products, and because of this, my hair looks really great. I don't find any problems with it. But you need to know which products are the best, since even within the category you mention, there are lots of choices.

P.S. I think you should think of an alternative term to the word 'colored woman.'

Can a white person use black hair products??

OMG - Stop NOW - you'll turn black!

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black pe

For Africans to be specific. Answers preferably with details,I really am just curious

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

Not really...Hair growth depends of nutrition and hair care.

A lot of people think blacks hair don't grow as fast is for a few reasons...

1. Our hair is a more kinky curly texture...which when straighten is quite long.

2. Black hair lacks natural oil, which can cause breakage do to it's dry texture...It grows at the same rate, but breaks easier.

3. Relaxers damage black hair and makes hair grow slower, and other chemicals as well...like hair colors, texturizers and that sort of thing.

4. A lot of black women like weaves, because it make black hair easier to manage. weaves also cause breakage from glues or having to be sewn into existing hair.

5. Because our hair is naturally dry...Curlers and other heat products cause breakage.

Example...My hair was nearly shaved bald last year. and now my hair is well past my shoulders...I don't use relaxers, weaves, hair color, or put lots of heat in my hair, and I use natural hair care products to maintain moisture.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

my hair grows slowly.

like 2 inches a month

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

NOT TRUE

MY HAIR GROWS FAST

The reason it may seem like that in some cases is the women that have and LEAVE their hair natural, if they straightened it like whites, it would be just as long and TWICE as thick.

My hair in braids is shoulder length, not straightened, My roommates straightened my hair with a hot comb just to see how long it was and it's to my mid back and is REALLY thick!

Most of the year I keep my hair in natural braids unstraightened, then for the summer I rock my fro.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

It really depends on the individual: the age, nutrition, climate, hair grows faster during the full moon, etc. Both types of people have pretty hair.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

Not if you know what you're doing. My hair used to be up to my neck and in 9 months it was past my shoulders.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

If the hair folical is round it will grow strait. If it is oval it will curl. Black folks folicals are flat oval and grows like a spring. The rate of growth is the same.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

yes i think so because i noticed most of their population have long hair while the black people have a population with a little bit of hair because most of us don't take care of our hair and we use relaxer.

by the way you spelt ***** wrong!!

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

Depends on what they do to their hair. Hair that is constantly bleached, processed, permed etc. will not grow as fast as hair that is conditioned and left in its natural state.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

The average growth in a year in about 6 inches for any race/grade of hair. I'm black and cape verdean and my hair grows about an half inch to an inch a month.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

Not at all. Caucasian hair tends to be less prone to breakage than African-type hair because the cuticle is open on theirs.

Asian and Native American hair is the strongest and on average, it grows the fastest.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

most definetly my hair grows really slow and the only thing i do to it is perm it

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

Not true at all. My hair grows super fast. Hence why I have to keep it trimmed and healthy or I would look like the girl from the Ring. ^_^

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

No sorry can't say that is true. It depends on how well you take care of your hair. If you put a lot of chemicals in your hair and heat, regardless of hair texture your hair will have breakage and be damaged.

No such thing as good hair, just how good you are to your hair.

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

The key to hair growth is maintaining it the ways it needs to be maintained.

My hair grows fast, because I maintenance it the way it needs to be maintained. I wash it 3 to 4 times a week, and I deep condition my hair 2 times a week, and I trim it every 6 to 8 weeks! It really has nothing to do with your skin color!

Peace!

Do you think that "white people" {Caucasians}hair grow faster and longer than the black people {Negroids}hair?

No I don't, when I had natural hair and would get it straightend it was down the middle of my back, well I made the mistake of getting a relaxer (I also got a shorter cut) and my hair became damaged and woud not grow. I am back to natural and I am sure it will grow just as fast as any other persons. Lots of black women get relaxers and that is not good for our hair....

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

I get this a lot. When I change my hairstyle my white coworkers always want to touch my hair. I feel it's rude!!! Please someone explain.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

We arent trying to be rude. We just want to see how it feels. Like me for instance, I cant understand when you get your hair up and looking pretty, how does it not go flat when you go to sleep? If I fixed my hair like that it would probably go flat before I laid down on it. Anyways, we arent trying to be rude we are just curious

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

Black people's hair has a very different structure and therefore texture than white people's hair. I at least find it fascinating. However, if it bothers you, just say no when they ask and make it clear that it makes you uncomfortable.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

*shrugs* Never felt a black woman's hair before, but now that you mention it... what does it feel like?? curiosity!

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

It's different, not all white people have tons of black friends. It's nice to see something new. Some people just like to touch everything!

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

Sweetie... I have lots of black friends and NO I have have or wanted to touch their hair. They don't touch mine... I don't get it? You don't go around touching peoples hair..

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

Because it fascinates them and they wish they could get there hair to act and do what yours can do.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

eeeww gross...i hate it when somebody touches me on the fly. it is something different than they have..natural curiosity..for the same reason people touch shaved heads

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

I am not sure. But when I went to school I was one of the only white girls and a few black girls asked to touch my hair so I think it goes both ways. But I think people want to find out about the unkown they cannot help themselves.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

Maybe they wan't to know where the top end is.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

cause man we are a beautiful culture our skin hair body shape i mean there is no other way to put it but i have never wanted to touch a white persons hair if they want to touch yours hey oh and i am far from prejudice my boyfriend to white

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

I`m sure they don`t mean it in a bad way but if it frustrates you that much tell them, it`s just something different to their hair. Some people like different.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

well black women are always wanting to touch my hair too but it doesn't bother me I personally wanted to touch a black woman's hair to see if it felt the way it looked but it's not a bad thing just curious not an insult or anything like that, i just think's it's cool that we are all so different and yet so alike

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

People get curious when see something different from what they have. But you are right, your coworkers should stop touching your hair, tell them directly that you don't like it.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

Um, I don't want to touch anyone's hair. That's weird.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

I have to say, I am white, but I have a neice who is black (she was adopted). My brother makes quite a bit of money so she likes to go and have different things done with her hair and I am guilty of wanting to touch it, it's because I love it and not for any other reason. I have had my hair done and people will say "your hair looks so soft" and they will touch it, it doesn't bother me.

I find a lot of black people to be very attractive and the different hairstyles black women have is quite interesting and I would love to touch it, but I don't (only my neice).

I can understand why you would think it's rude, but it's out of curiosity and when people want to touch it, take it as a compliment but tell them you don't like other people touching your hair.

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

when I was a child my black friends always wanted to play with my hair and braid and stuff ..its rude for adults I agree I am a white woman with dreads and long braids and people at work grab at my hair like its a freak show or something..I think its cause Im white with a black hairstyle..they cant deal

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

put your self in their shoes, your hair should be tempting

they are like a child who see something beautiful

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

I would guess because of the intricate designs and styles used in black women's hair. Many white women do not have hair that can be easily molded into small works of art or sculptures. I have seen some beautiful dos in my day. I have never touched anyone's hair however. My son has a similar problem, whenever we meet a Hispanic or Phillipino woman they will touch his blonde curls and in hispanic culture it is kind of like bleesing him, or so I've been told.

AnswerGirl

Why do white people always want to touch black women's hair?

I don't think this is true. I have never asked a black woman if I could touch her hair and I have never seen any white person ask a black person if they could touch their hair. Who are your co-workers? Next time they ask just say no, you spent a lot of time on your hair and you don't want people touching it. Or you could tell them that you think it's really weird that they are always asking to touch your hair.

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten i

My hair is puffy and has very very tight curls. I have tried herbal essences and other products. I dont know if it is because im white/Black but nothing works! My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

Omg put a relaxer in your hair.. my hair used to be really frizzy, but after putting relaxers in every now and then it has gotten straighter.

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

No shampoo or conditioner does that!! ive tried it too! you should try a Japenese Straightener..Its a chemical one....its a little expensive but it never wears off until your hair grows out. look it up online. Good luck! i just got one for my birthday!

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

When I was a kid I had really curly hair so I used to get the Toni Home perms (I don't even know if you can still get them) and instead of putting curlers in, I would just brush it straight. It didn't take all the curl out but it helped quite a bit.

Be careful though, it may dry your hair out. Good luck.

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

i dont think they actually exist - they usually just help you if your hair is already straight or you straighten it on a regular it helps maintain your straightness ( if i can call it that )

if your tired of the iron i would suggest trying the huge ( i mean huge ) rollers and try rolling your hair at night when you get out of the shower - you would probally still have to run the straightner over it a few times in the am to smooth it out but it may cut time down on haveing to stand there and straighten your hair - but trust me if they had that shampoo out i would deff tell you about it -

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

OMG.. if only a mircle would happen and there was actually a chemical that straightens your hair.. That would be awsome!.. but sadly i have heard of no such thing..

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

Hi Dear,

If you are biracial--you must understand that you have hair that is similar to many African-American people. You have kinky hair. I'm black, and in order for your hair to get straight; you must either get a Perm (Relaxer), or you must straighten your hair with a blow-dryer after you wash it...If you want a Perm, you can ask a black woman that you know put a perm into your hair. You can use anything from "Optimum" perm, to "Dark N Lovely" to "Gentle Treatment". These are what black women use to get straight hair. You can find a box of perm in your local drug store or a walmart in the black women's hair section..Or, you can go to a local black beauty salon and they will be happy to give you a perm, but it will cost about $65 dollars.

OR--this is how you can get quick striaght hair. After you wash your hair, rub some baby oil in your hair (or a light grease). . Then put your hair into about 7 sections using rubber bands (separating large chunks of hair). Then, you run a blowdryer through your hair on HIGH with a comb attached, and keep combing it %26amp; combing it while its on. Keep doing this until each piece gets straight. After a piece gets staright; put it back into the rubber band %26amp; move on to the next section of hair.

Honet, dont worry, just welcome to the world of having black hair :)

My hair is puffy/ tight curls. Im black/white.I want something other then a flat iron 2 straighten it.Help plz

i have the same problem! i honestly wish i knew the answer... i think the best way to go is to go with either

s answer.

im sorry i cant help more than that, but good luck. (i personaly am going with ren's answer.)

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of bl

seriously. its like the black guys, who have hair like mines, except for the open minded artistic black guys, are cool with my afro, but the white punk rock guys love it, and find it so exotic, and so neat, and unique. so its odd to think about it, because some black guys say i'm a traitor because i'm black and dating white guys, but the black guys i've seen discriminate against me because i am not perming or straightening my hair. what type of foolishness is that? its like blacks were made to hate themselves, and their own, and to cling onto their oppressors, the oppressors who never liked them in the 1st place. only what they could do for them...seriously.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

I'm no punk rocker but you go girl! Half the fun of dating black chicks for me is all the people that it irritates. The other half is (my experience only) they are way better in bed!!

Punk rockers are drawn to you because you accept them, most of society (including most whites and probably your black hater boys) think they're freaks of nature. You tend to go where you閳ユ獧e accepted. Either way, a white punker dude with a black chick is a high profile couple, everywhere you go its all eyes on you !!

And what's the harm in that?

What閳ユ獨 funny to me is that your black 閳ユ竾riends閳?that criticize you are morons !! They want to be treated equal, (they claim) they want people to look past their skin pigmentation (they claim) but when it happens they have an attitude. Go figure? Then they wonder why they閳ユ獧e broke, dejected, unemployed and life long losers. Life is what you make of it, listen to winners, ignore the losers.

The only thing you閳ユ獧e betraying is an ignorant and sad past, a past that a lot of people don閳ユ獩 really want to let go of. America has changed a lot since 1960. Welcome aboard !!

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

serious issues. not your probem, don't worry about it. it's their personal problem.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

sweetheart, dont worry abt them. down here in texas i see black guys dating white girls all the time. i am dating a puerto rican, and they say the same thing to me. what i dont understand is, why are they worried abt it if they are dating a white girl. trust me, i know what you mean. there is nothing wrong with interracial dating. dont worry abt them, as long as you too make each other happy

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

Yea I know what you mean...

their fault.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

White punk rock guys are cool with any girl, that's why. They tend to be the free spirits, the liberated, and really cool dudes. They were the best customers when I was a cashier at Rite Aid. Its too bad I don't work with any at my current job.

Most black guys (and I say MOST, not all), have insecurities about themselves. Half the time they feel they are above all other guys, especially white and asian guys, and that they can put their hands on any girl they wish and the other half they are sulking at every other non-black guy because they feel us other guys as a whole let them down and bring them down when its they themselves who do. Its funny because you hear them accusing black women of having attitudes and what not but the same white and hispanic girls they date are just as rude if not worse than the "rude stereotypical black girls".

White punk rock guys make ideal partners especially the ones who got their head on straight. Trust me them and any latin/asian/multiracial even some artistic cool black punk rockers. They just rock and they need love. .

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

It seems like you have your head on straight. These guys don't. Just be proud of that. As for dating white guys, go for it. Nobody should give you a hard time for that, especially guys that don't like your hair. By the way, I am white and just went out with a black guy for our first date. He told me my hair was out of style because it was too straight. Go figure.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

well I'm not into punk rock, more, pop, country, hard, but never punk %26amp; my wife is black %26amp; beautiful. All I can say is that you just have to be you no matter what anyone says %26amp; my wife will tell you the same thing. If people don't like you for you, then they really arn't your friends are they!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

I think that many people admire the different physical looks of the various races on the earth, but because of the fear and small mindedness people have of someone whose looks and culture are different than thier own, taboos have sprung up that try to limit who we associate with, date, marry , do business with etc..( A garden with only one type of flower can be rather boring. But when you plant a garden with flowers that are different you have a thing of beauty)

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

I have sisterlocks (which are tiny manicured locs) and I have noticed that the response from whites guys far outweighs the response I get from black guys. I don't know what it is but here is my theory. Our natural hair is what makes us unique. When it is straightened, it is seen by others as essentially trying to be white. But, straightening it doesn't give us the freedom that comes with having "white" hair. Black women don't do alot of things for fear of messing up their perms like swimming, working out, and just being free.

From my limited experience, black women who have locks overwhelmingly tend to be paired with white guys. My hair attracts white guys of all economic stati young and old. I have had too many white men reach out and touch my hair, just willing to take a chance on not getting slapped, lol.

Beauty is beauty and it's recognized by many. Too many people of color reject what is beautiful because they fear what white people think of natural hair, basically being too black, and have simply been brainwashed.

There is a difference between having an appreciation for natural hair and that not being your thing and outright condemnation of it as many have done.

Think of that new policy at Hampton University.

You are beautiful girl. Just soak it up and go with it.

Hope that helps.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

you know, ive noticed this as well. dont know why. maybe because it's so different and unique. some and i do mean some black men make fun of me for wearing my hair natural calling it "nappy" (in the rude way). but non black men like it.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

I guess everybody wants what they can't have. Who knows why people think the way they do.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

OMG they do?i love those type of guys WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

I do not know... but its interesting. It seems a white guy is more likely to compliment a black gal about her natural hairdo than black men are......... from my own experience. All the white boyfriends Ive had, including my present one have always liked my hairdo.

Why is it that a lot of punk rock white boys like black girls with natural hair, but not a lot of black guys?

Girl that's their issues not yours ... it's too bad .... something I noticed, is white males are more acceptable than a black man.

I'm not saying anything bad about black men, it's just the actual case, white men really love the natural look of a black female. They don't care if we're not wearing makeup, hair isn't done, whatever .... they love their girls. (their black femms)

Example: one day I went over to a friends house and I was looking normal but I didn't have my hair done, it was just in a ponytail, and the one white guy was like, "man you're looking sexy today" and so and so, and the black guy (my best friends friend) was like .... "oh she look cute, but maybe she needs to do her hair", WTF!!!!

So I know what you're saying in a sense because SOME black men (NOT ALL) can't appreciate the natural beauty of a female.

Now my husband whom is white, loves me when I'm looking a hot dang mess (LOL) all the way to the Dolled up look ya know. (but I'm more Dolled up than anything)

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes & did he get a lot of sunburns?

I always picture him as looking like Jon Lovitz, and having a great sense of comedic timing which, unfortunately, got edited out of the gospels. : )

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

he was born in the sun, as was Mithras

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

no, he had dark hair and dark skin...prolly not

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

I don't think so pretty Kitty. I think Jesus had olive skin and dark hair. The truth is...no one really knows.

Happy Friday all!

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

Doesn't matter.

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

Jesus was a Jew,

anyway, it wouldn't matter to me what color His skin was

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

No, he was middle eastern, despite the amount of painting that picture him as a european. He probably had olive colored skin, brownish eyes and dark hair, just like every other middle eastern. remeber, he had to be one of the common people to show htat he came for rich and poor alike

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

No, Jesus was a Jew. How many Jews do you know with blonde hair? He was dark and looked like everyone else in the middle east.

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

Jesus was a Jew and it stands to believe that he looked like one.

The reason Jesus is portrayed as white with blue eyes or whatever is because Constantine outlawed art more or less. He made it uniform and stated talent was nothing more then pride. Also there were no pictures of Jesus, or even any art for a really long time.

Fast forward to the Renaissance and art is breaking through again. So you have a bunch of Italian guys painting an image of Christ so that people can identify more, especially those who could not read the Bible, and he is going to look Italian.

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

you are all talking about him being a "jew".

last time i checked it was a religion not a race

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

haha love your avatar. Very cuteeeeeeeeeee

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

Physical Descriptions of Jesus

The letter from Pontius Pilate to Tiberius Caesar

This is a reprinting of a letter from Pontius Pilate to Tiberius Caesar describing the physical appearance of Jesus. Copies are in the Congressional Library in Washington, D.C.

TO TIBERIUS CAESAR:

A young man appeared in Galilee preaching with humble unction, a new law in the Name of the God that had sent Him. At first I was apprehensive that His design was to stir up the people against the Romans, but my fears were soon dispelled. Jesus of Nazareth spoke rather as a friend of the Romans than of the Jews. One day I observed in the midst of a group of people a young man who was leaning against a tree, calmly addressing the multitude. I was told it was Jesus. This I could easily have suspected so great was the difference between Him and those who were listening to Him. His golden colored hair and beard gave to his appearance a celestial aspect. He appeared to be about 30 years of age. Never have I seen a sweeter or more serene countenance. What a contrast between Him and His bearers with their black beards and tawny complexions! Unwilling to interrupt Him by my presence, I continued my walk but signified to my secretary to join the group and listen. Later, my secretary reported that never had he seen in the works of all the philosophers anything that compared to the teachings of Jesus. He told me that Jesus was neither seditious nor rebellious, so we extended to Him our protection. He was at liberty to act, to speak, to assemble and to address the people. This unlimited freedom provoked the Jews -- not the poor but the rich and powerful.

If you wish, you can read the rest at source below.

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

Obviously....just ask the ministers here

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

NA he was olive skinned more than likely brown eyes, was in sun allot as they walked everywhere. Because of pigment of skin not great amount of sunburning as they took precautions in covering up,but w/o Coppertone I am sure he had his share! THank you David G had not seen that site! I have not seen Jesus his apperance does not matter its what he did that matters I believe!

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

How is this relevant to our eternal salvation?

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

He had no form of comliness one prophet said, we most likely would have passed Him without much notice. But it was the power of His teachings, that if obeyed bring forth results.

He, being of the Middle East, was true to nature as we see nature when it produces our children. I would say, that He was dark haired with olive-brown skin with dark eyes. Average built, but MATURE, FILLED FULL OF MERCY, GRACE, AND POWER.

Let me know if I use too big of words, or too grand of concepts....I will try to use smaller one, like if and it, instead of Timbukktu and Constintanople.

But He is beautiful, to the point, and He will tolerate all of the sneers, slaps, and curses, that a silly human race can place on Him.

He came as a Lamb of God, and as a lamb opened not his mouth, for He willingly became the curse, so that any that should choose to believe on Him might live.

A price had to be paid, for God is just, and God is Holy....I know not an easy way for some of us in this world to relate with concepts as such. Such concepts are foreign, and we in our wisdom knows better than accept such nonesense...

Yet Jesus the Christ will return as The Lion of Judah...and then silly little minded people can ask all of the questions they need to. And He will answer and Judge. Not only them, but also He will judge the nations.

Now, what is powerful is that if we judge ourselves now, then there will not be a judgment for us later. Once again, some people believe that there is not need for any of this...but that is for them to decide. After all it is a matter of free will.

We either save or damn ourselves. But this righteous God must judge sin as sin. Bottom line, no if's and's but's or maybe's.

It may take awhile, but when He appears to the Jewish Nation they will inquire where the scars on His hands came from, and I believe His answers is...."I received them in the house of a friend"....and then they will see ...for their eyes will be opened that their Christ, came a long time ago to break bondage from spiritual darkness.

They rejected Him then because, He didnot come the way they wanted Him to. And be the physical Warrior King, to deliver them from the bondage of Rome. But this should only prove that "WE DON'T GET TO MAKE ANY CHANGES, DELETE ANY SCENES, OR SUBSTITUTE ONE CONCEPT FOR ANOTHER".

The Living God is the author and finisher of the book, not we simpleton human beings. Who worship the creation more than the Creator. How silly!

I am not certain when, this will happen, I am certain that it will happen.

Just as the relationship between Russia, Iran and other Muslim coaligned nations will attack Israel.

Just as the annointed forsight gives us evidences of scoffers and mockers in the end, and like as it says that\"As it was in the days of Noah.....", or "As it was in the days of Sodom and Gommorah", just as it reveals to us, a "PERVERTED GENERATION, CALLING TO THEIR PLAYMATES IN THE MARKET PLACE."

The society that we live in has asked, "Where is the promise of His return?" Getting all puffed up in their own deluded minds. Learned minds, minds that think they could be as wise as the Eternal God.

Calling sin, good and rightful, and calling rightful and good bad and evil.

They as if showing themselves wise, show their uttmost foolishness.

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

If so, I'll bet he got all the girls, too

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

Yes most definitly white and since he was in Jerusalam Judea he may have had a lot of sun burns.

Was Jesus White with blond hair and blue eyes %26amp; did he get a lot of sunburns?

Wasn't Jesus as Israeli? I find that most Israeli people have dark hair and olive skin. I doubt he was blond and blue-eyed. I think they would have mentioned in the Bible if Jesus was like that.

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

please answer

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

No. I don't know who told you that, but while sleeping with wet hair, all you are going to experience with is more tangles, and a wet pillow. :)

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

No

But not rinsing it sure will.

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

not sure

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

no, who ever told u that was lieing. but other than that thats not true.

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

where did you get an idea like that? i do not think so. i go to bed with wet hair all the time and didn't get white/gray hair from that.

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

At night you should put your hair in a satin scarf, cap or sleep on a satin pillow to prevent damage caused by friction while sleeping and to maintain a proper moisture balance. This is basic maintenance.

A head held up against a pillow all night can also retain excess moisture for hours. Try to allow your locks to dry completely before going to bed. If you cannot let them air dry long enough, blow dry them.

Another benefit of getting them completely dry is they will not flatten while you sleep.

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

NO NO NO!!

Absolutely not. Hair goes white because of hormones and not because of anything you do with it.

Don't worry because stress causes grey/white hair!

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

absolutly no is the answer 4 ur question!!

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

I doubt it,but i always get a cold if i go to bed with wet hair!!

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

if you have rinsed out all the shampoo then it shouldnt,

who an earth told you that anyways?

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

NO! Who told you that? But sleeping with wet hair will surely make your hair and the pillow stink! It can also give some nasty sort of headaches bad enough to ruin a whole day.

Will sleeping with wet hair cause hair going white?

probaly not. i think its just a myth... but by doing so, your hair loses its strength and will break

I would like to know if anyone knows how to make ur hair snow white...my husband wants his mustache

Go to a place like Sally's beauty supply and ask for some kind of a bleaching agent that is safe for mustaches. Not every kind of hair bleach can be used for facial hair so be sure to ask.

I would like to know if anyone knows how to make ur hair snow white...my husband wants his mustache snow white

If he's a real man he whip up some powder blue bleach with 40 volume activator. I did that to my head...asians should not be platinum blond. OUCH

Why do some men's hair turn white before their age ? In late 40s already salt & pepper colo

genetics. i have a high school buddy (we are 40's) that was gray at 25 - but two brothers are not and parents were good to mid 50's.

Why do some men's hair turn white before their age ? In late 40s already salt %26amp; pepper color of hair ?

maybe they spent the night in a graveyard

Why do some men's hair turn white before their age ? In late 40s already salt %26amp; pepper color of hair ?

It is all genetics, not the graveyard comment (though it was somewhat amusing). Ask about the family history for the men and women(Yes, it happens to women, too). I believe you will find a history of premature greying in the hair.

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

Stress

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

Because it shows we are getting smarter.

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

As we grow older the pigment in the hair is lost. The hair becomes colourless.

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

Im not sure sometimes it can turn grey

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

its hereditary!

moses's hair turned white when he turned old

so he passed it down to his descendants

and that's how we got white hair

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

that the cells that produce the color in hair just don't work as well as they used to. These cells are called "melanocytes."

"Melanos" is a Greek word that means "very dark." "Cyte" comes from "kutos," which is Greek, too. It meant "a hollow vessel." Now it means cell.

Those melanocytes don't work quite as well as they used to because they're not getting as much of a certain hormone. That hormone has fallen off because of a decrease in another hormone.

Hormones are substances in the body that do a lot of different things. One thing they do is help you be either a boy or girl. Another thing, not quite so important, is stimulate the melanocytes to crank out pigment.

So why isn't this gray-haired body making as much hormones? Well, I wish I could be more delicate, but it means it's getting old. And that means its cells are wearing out. Each cell has a specific job to do, such as making hormones. The process of aging is basically a decrease in the number of cells in the body and problems with the cells that remain.

we might compare our bodies to cars. In a new car, everything generally works great. Over time little things happen--a fender gets dented, things start to rust, parts wear out. Finally, the car gets to the point where it's just not possible to keep everything fixed.

The same sort of thing happens with your body. You start off more or less perfect. But throughout life you're bombarded by things that cause breaks and dents and rust. Things such as dirty air, bacteria and viruses, bad food and stress.

Your genes make a big difference in how you age. Genes are the little packages of information in every one of your cells. You get them from your parents, and they basically tell your body how to grow. Some of us get a Ferarri set of genes. Others get a Yugo set.

But just as with a car, a very, very important thing in how you age is maintenance. If you take good care of a Yugo, it will last longer and work better. Just imagine what it will do for a Ferarri. Maintenance for people includes exercise, proper diet, and not getting stressed out.

And that brings up another very important thing. Remember in that previous column, Professor Sarkar pointed out that with your brain you either use it or lose it? Same thing applies to the rest of your body.

For example, if you exercise, the extra glucose (a kind of sugar) in your muscles is more likely to be used to feed the exercising muscle cells rather than cross-linking parts of them.

Cross-linking? Where'd that come from?

Sometimes the proteins or DNA in your cells get linked by extra sugar floating around. For some reason, this causes them to screw up or even quit working altogether. So USE up that glucose! Or LOSE those cells! Because you know where that gets you--

DEAD!

One thing the use-it-or-lose-it approach doesn't apply to, though, is your hair. I don't think anyone's figured out how to exercise your melanocytes to keep them producing color!

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

As we get older the pigment in our hair folicals will stop producing color. So the grey is actually lack of color just like a chunck of glass looks kind of silvery, or even clear plastic looks kind of metally in the right light.

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

Are you kidding? My hair didn't turn white. It fell out. Poof it was gone.

Why does our hair turn white as we grow older?

The most common areas on the scalp in which to first see gray hair development are above the ears and/or at the temples. This first gray hair may spread around the sides and to the crown with time. Gray hair development in the beard and mustache may also start quite early, while gray hair on the chest and pubic region generally only occurs some years after onset of gray hair on the scalp.

Gray hair is caused by the gradual reduction of melanin production over time within the affected hair follicle. The melanocytes in the hair follicles produce less and less melanin, and the result is a loss of hair fiber color strength. What we call gray hair is not gray at all if you look at the individual hair fibers. Some hair fibers will contain some color while others are virtually white. What we describe as gray comes about from our perception of the overall scalp hair color. The contrast between the hair with more color and the white hair causes the appearance we call gray hair. Thus two people with gray hair, standing side by side, may have different shades of gray. Blondes are most likely to develop a completely white head of hair in old age because their hair fiber has a very low density of pigment in it to start with.

The time and speed of gray hair onset is due in part to genetics. Certainly early onset gray hair development can run in families. In my own family women are invariably affected by early and rapid onset gray hair while men have a more typical gray hair development. This difference in gray hair development in my family might suggest that at least some of the genes that promote early gray hair onset are located on the X chromosome. However, there are most likely many genes that determine the time and speed of gray hair development located on several human chromosomes. What genes determine gray hair is not known and much research needs to be done in this area. The environment may also potentially modify gray hair development but there is effectively no research on this subject.

Hair turning white overnight is largely a myth although a severe form of the disease alopaecia can result in rapid loss of hair. As the affected hair is mainly pigmented, remaining hair is white or gray, resulting in the appearance of rapidly graying hair

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

The color of hair matters more than you may realize. Beyond its cosmetic role, it also may provide insulation and ward off harmful ultraviolet light. The determination of hair color is complicated. Melanocytes, cells that live in the upper layers of the skin and at the base of hair follicles, produce pigment (called melanin) that creates the coloring of hair. They produce two types of melanin: eumelanin, a brown-black pigment, and pheomelanin, a yellow-red pigment. The genes you inherit from your parents determine the exact mix of pigments that your melanocytes produce, which accounts for the similarity of hair color shared by family members.

Once a hair is produced by a hair follicle, its color does not change 閳?so while a head of hair can turn gray over time, an individual hair doesn't actually turn gray. An individual hair may be pigmented (brown, black, red, blonde), white (because the melanocytes have "run out" of pigment) or gray (when the amount of pigment is reduced). That's why the chemicals and dyes applied to hair may alter its color temporarily, but once the hair has grown out, its true color is again evident at the roots. Ordinarily, gray hairs are hidden among the pigmented hairs, becoming more obvious only as the pigmented hairs fall out over a prolonged period of time. The different texture of gray hair is the result of reduced moisture that accompanies reduced pigment.

Why melanocytes stop producing enough melanin is not entirely clear. Part of it may be related to "apoptosis," a term that means the death of a cell triggered by the cell itself after a certain amount of time. Whatever the reason, melanocytes lose capacity at about 10% to 20% per decade. The first gray hairs may show up in teenage years, but more commonly they appear between ages 35 and 50.

Men gray sooner than women, but the tendency to gray early, late or not at all also depends in part on the genes inherited from parents. One's ethnic background matters as well 閳?there is variability among different populations. For example, Caucasians tend to develop gray hair sooner than Asian or African people. Another mystery: Gray hair generally crops up first at the temples, then the top of the head, spreading out from there to the rest of the scalp.

Hair may seem to become gray faster if the normal process of "shedding" speeds up, and that is just what happens in a relatively common condition called telogen effluvium 閳?instead of losing about 100 hairs per day as is normal, 300 hairs fall out daily. This may be triggered by a significant illness or other major stress to the body. In those situations, a head of hair that was minimally gray becomes more dramatically gray in a short period because more of the darker hairs have fallen.

There are situations in which graying of hair can be reversed. In certain conditions, such as severe eczema or certain infections of the scalp, or after radiation therapy or chemotherapy, hair that was gray may re-grow with its former color. Early in the process of graying, a gray hair may fall out and be replaced with a normally pigmented hair. And melanocytes that are producing little or no melanin in the scalp can be removed and stimulated in the laboratory to make melanin. Together, these observations suggest the aging melanocyte retains the capacity to increase the pigment it makes even after its output starts to decline. Some researchers believe that with a better understanding of how and why gray hair develops, it may be possible to reverse or even prevent it.

Did you know that hair can be turned green by swimming pool water? It's thought that copper in the water or from pipes, or chemicals put in the water to kill algae, can turn hair green. It's more common among frequent swimmers who have blonde, white or gray hair; fortunately it is reversible (though you may have to find another pool until the source of the problem is identified and corrected).

In addition, certain medications or supplements can promote hair loss, revealing more white or gray hair in their wake. Lithium and amphetamines are mentioned as frequent offenders. Vitamin E and echinacea are also reported to cause graying of hair, although I could find no published confirmation in scientific journals or information regarding which dose or duration of therapy has been linked to graying.

The vast majority of people with gray hair have age-related graying. However, sometimes graying of the hair indicates an illness, especially if it occurs at a particularly young age. Several illnesses may be heralded by gray hair, including:

Vitamin B12 deficiency

Neurofibromatosis 閳?Also called Von Recklinghausen's disease, this is a group of inherited diseases in which tumors grow along nerves. Developmental abnormalities may be observed, including that of skin and bones.

Tuberous sclerosis 閳?An unusual, inherited condition associated with benign tumors in multiple organs (including the brain, heart, kidneys, eyes, lung and skin)

Thyroid disease

Vitiligo 閳?A condition of unknown cause in which melanocytes are lost or destroyed 閳?perhaps because the immune system "misfires" and attacks the skin rather than an infection. If the scalp is involved, areas of white hair may develop.

Alopecia areata 閳?Another "autoimmune" disorder in which patches of hair may be suddenly lost, especially the pigmented hairs. This may lead to the "overnight" graying because previously present gray or white hairs suddenly become more obvious. When hair growth resumes, it may be white or gray, but normally pigmented hair may eventually return.

In addition, there is research linking premature graying of hair to other health conditions such as heart disease and low bone mass (called osteopenia), a precursor of osteoporosis, although how they are connected is unclear. Cigarette smoking also has been linked to premature graying.

As with most medical myths, there is an element of truth to the notion that stress can lead to graying hair. For the most part, however, it is untrue. Because a hair shaft cannot change color once it has grown in (unless exposed to chemicals that change its color, a regular event at hair salons), hair cannot suddenly turn gray with or without stress.

However, alopecia areata and telogen effluvium can lead to pigmented hair loss, and stress has long been considered a trigger of these conditions (though not confirmed by recent research). As a result, an emotionally stressful event rarely can trigger loss of darker hair, leaving behind gray and white hair that is suddenly more noticeable. However, this is the exception, not the rule, and even this does not happen literally overnight. Much more often, stress (or lack of stress) has little known effect on one's hair 閳?unless, of course, you're so on edge you pull it out.

How hair grows, ages and changes color over time is a complicated process. While it is possible that stress matters, it is unlikely to play a critical role. Everyone has stress, yet not everyone has gray hair. Current understanding suggests that there are more important influences on the color of hair than stress, worry or anxiety. A host of genetic and environmental influences can affect your hair color, although the precise reason one person's hair turns gray while others never develop gray hair remains a mystery.

As a matter of coincidence, adults often raise their children at about the time that they notice their first gray hairs. But that doesn't mean kids are the cause of their parents' gray hair. There were many things my parents could rightfully blame on me, but turning their hair gray was not one of them. In fact, because hair color and graying may be inherited, it is much more likely that I can blame my gray hair on them.

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

good question ... i always wondered that

=]

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

Im not even old yet and mine is starting to turn.

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

its called age and wisedom, actually some peoples hair turns white because of stress

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

Because the cells that produce melanin die. Why does this happen at differing ages? No one knows but it could be genes. An interesting fact is that hair is colored from the inside out not the outside in......

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

Because cells that produce hair pigment are not efficient anymore

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

Each hair follicle contains a certain number of pigment cells. These pigment cells continuously produce a chemical called melanin that gives the growing shaft of hair its color of brown, blonde, red, and anything in between.

Melanin is the same stuff that makes our skin's color fair or darker. It also helps determine whether a person will burn or tan in the sun. The dark or light color of someone's hair depends on how much melanin each hair contains.

As we get older, the pigment cells in our hair follicles gradually die. When there are fewer pigment cells in a hair follicle, that strand of hair will no longer contain as much melanin and will become a more transparent color - like gray, silver, or white - as it grows. As people continue to get older, fewer pigment cells will be around to produce melanin. Eventually, the hair will look completely gray.

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

Your body stops producing a certain chemical.

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

Its part of the 'sin' consequences given to us from adam and eve's disobedience. Although it is associated with wisdom, because with age comes wisdom, it is an indication of getting older.

We were created to live forever but Adam and Eves disobedience caused all their offspring to inherit sin (thus old age and death), so until paradise is restored on earth(which the Bible indicates will be soon), sin and everything that comes with it will continue, including gray hairs!

You can give me a thumbs down, but its the truth, check your Bible. The truth always hurts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does our hair turn white when we grow old?

When human turn older their hair turn white. At an age above 90 years hair start turning to black ag

what is the chemestry of this change?

When human turn older their hair turn white. At an age above 90 years hair start turning to black again.?

Don't worry that is the human body chemistry. How many old people have you seen with black hair and they are ninety yyears old. Very few ma' boy. What you ask you find the answer in the Bible. No man lives to be ninety and has all hisd body chem intact. Something goes wrong with time and this is how your body goesa on breaking down and down till it can't bear anymore. This time then it keeps it's cool and goes to a sleep that no man can dream of ever retiurning to after they are into.

When human turn older their hair turn white. At an age above 90 years hair start turning to black again.?

Never heard of this phenomenon

When human turn older their hair turn white. At an age above 90 years hair start turning to black again.?

Not possible my grandfather was 99 1/2 when he died and my grandmother is 94. Hair color will lose its pigmentation and won't come back unless it is colored.

When human turn older their hair turn white. At an age above 90 years hair start turning to black again.?

Where did you get this information from?

Does anyone know where I can find "angel hair"? the white spun glass stuff....?

Seems to me that it is no longer manufactured, as it was a derivative of fiberglass and was detrimental to health.

I haven't seen it for about 40 years, since I was a child.

Does anyone know where I can find "angel hair"? the white spun glass stuff....?

The white angel hair is still made and is available from a couple of distributers on the internet. I have used this many times over the year, the last time was last Christmas.

Keep looking, you'll find it. Report It

What's up with the white steak of hair on Stacy London?

LOL I don't know! I always say that when i'm watching the show, because she looks too young to have gray hair. I actually don't know her age. But if she is older than maybe she wants to keep a great style.

What's up with the white steak of hair on Stacy London?

She's discussed it on the show. It's natural. Sometimes it shows more than other times, depending on how her hair is parted. However, I think she may sometimes color it (she didn't say anything about doing this though) as there are shows on which you can't see a sign of it.

What's up with the white steak of hair on Stacy London?

I hate it !!! Talk about fashion no one walks around looking like skunk... you would think she would be on the up and up and color it or something...
