Why is black people's hair greasier than white people's hair? Is this natural or an added

Actualy black peoples hair is very dry and brittle so they add products to their hair to keep it from breaking and to help it grow. They also do not wash it very often to help keep the products in and to keep from drying out thier hair. It is alot of work for a black person to grow long hair for this reason. That is one reason alot of them keep thier hair in tight braids to help it grow and to help thier hair gels stay in thier hair.

Why is black people's hair greasier than white people's hair? Is this natural or an added product?

Funny how a non-black person who refers to black people as "they" knows more about the subject, according to the voters, than a actual black person. Well SMH!! Report It

Why is black people's hair greasier than white people's hair? Is this natural or an added product?

both natural and product. black hair produces oil naturally, and some need to add it in

who cares about white people's hair. black hair is so beautiful and im proud. and thats not true, i know a lot of different people whose hair are greasy and thats because they either dont wash out all of their conditioners or they dont wash their hair often.

so dont worry, black hair is just perfect the way it is ;)

Why is black people's hair greasier than white people's hair? Is this natural or an added product?

It's the chemical used or the type of waves.

Black people's hair is less greasy than a white person's hair, that is why they don't have to wash it as oftem. That is also why black people can wear their hair in braids and it won't look gross after 1 week. I know white people that get braids in their hair and after 1 week it just looks disgusting and greasy.

i think black people need to stop freaking out and saying "BLACK HAIR IS BEAUTIFUL!!" and acting like theyre a different species or someting..really they arent discriminated that much...

Why is black people's hair greasier than white people's hair? Is this natural or an added product?

because we put oil in it to make it shiny. Or sometimes its just natural.

That's a stereotype.

As a black woman who has natural hair (no chemicals added), I have to tell you that a lot of the responses you have received are totally FALSE!!

Black peoples hair creates the same amount of oil that white peoples hair, or any other race for that matter. Because our hair is tightly coiled, it take a longer time to travel down the hair shaft, in turn, the whole head isn't greasy. If you felt the hair of someone who has natural hair (if they let you. We can be sensitive about stranger touching all in the fro!) The ends of the hair may seem dry/brittle because the natural oils haven't made it to the bottom of the hair shaft. And probably won't, that's why we have to add products, like hair grease or oil sheen spray. To give it the "illusion" of shiny hair. (Our hair doesn't naturally shine, but it does have sheen)

Anyway back on topic: When you see people with "greasy" hair, it's usually on someone who has chemically processed their hair, for example, using a relaxer or "perm". Because chemicals break down the natural bond of the hair, that's is what makes it more suseptable to breakage and split ends. The moisturizer, hair grease, or oil sheen, puts a coating on the dry, damaged hair, in turn, helping it to not break off as fast.

To answer your question: Black peoples hair is greasier than whites because a lot of people use too much products and don't wash their hair often enough!! (BTW, I wash my hair everyday!!)

HTH

Why is black people's hair greasier than white people's hair? Is this natural or an added product?

"Recovered" gave the most accurate answer listed.

Because of the differences in the shape and size of the hair follicle, some nationalities secrete more oil and need to wash it out more often.

My opinion it's the other way around white people hair greasier than blacks. We add products to our hair to make it shine, and to condition our scalp.

Why is black people's hair greasier than white people's hair? Is this natural or an added product?

Au contraire. Naturally, black hair is typically drier that other races.
